The Berlin Manhattan Institute for Free Enterprise (BMI) is Germany’s free market think tank and successor to the Institute for Free Enterprise (IUF).

The BMI is named for two metropolitan regions that jointly represent an integrated and free world view in which national borders become more and more insignificant.

The BMI advocates policies that promote entrepreneurial initiative, creativity, innovation and competition.

Consistent with our liberal philosophy we do not accept government contracts or funding and are supported by private contributions only.

How we work
At present, the Berlin Manhattan Institute produces original studies, commissions studies and commentary from researchers, and translates existing scholarship to German or English. The institute supports free market coalitions of individuals and organizations, and works with other liberty-oriented think tanks across the globe.
